Tool Organization – Organize Your Toolbox Like The Pros – Tool Box Tours

Words & photos: Rodney Wills – Everyone of us including you as Toyota Land Cruiser enthusiast have tools of various degrees. We are either overly obsessive about tools or lacking the bare minimum of tools. Previously we discussed the carrying of tools in our vehicles in “Gear For Land Cruiser Camping – Tools.” For this post, we are looking at the various ways to organize tools and this video (above) shows us a whole “other-nother” level that can either be label obsessive or ultra-cool! The terminology is yours – so are your tools! Organize accordingly.

The following images below is a sampling of the tool boxes here at Red Line Land Cruisers. Not all boxes are shown and this was either a “top of box” tech cart sampling or first drawer on a couple of big boxes as they do not use the “standard” 30 Inch Tool Cart. Yes, some need more organization than others and one U.S. General 30in. 4-Drawer Tech Cart is going to get a complete make over! For daily service work, we have four of the U.S. General 30.in 4/5-Drawer Tech Carts as these are easy to move from vehicle to vehicle. Some of the guys have larger stationary tool boxes in support of these tech carts. One of our guys has a massive amount of tools and works off the smallest “tech tray” or what seems to be a dentist tray! This inspired one of our other guys to add the U.S. General Adjustable Height Mobil Service Tray (photo #9) to his tool arsenal. These boxes see daily use and are in a constant flux of change from one vehicle station to another. Also too, we captured these images in the moment, the Land Cruiser technicians were not warned or given time to clean up their boxes for a photo shoot, these are real and raw!
