It’s not so much that a man chooses his journey, but that the journey chooses the man. The experience had been trying. He had to empty all his stores of bravery, strength, and survival instinct. After years of preparation, things he never thought would matter had culminated to this one moment. It was the moment that mattered most. The moment that would define him for the rest of his days. Now, atop his steadfast and freeborn red cruiser, the rising sun, a poetic end to a life-changing adventure.
This rust-free Cruiser is a rare find. Professionally restored in 2015, the following items were completed:
– Complete body work removing any imperfections.
– Primed, painted three times with “Freeborn Red” and finally two coats of clear coat applied.
– Undercoated with a 3M rubberized product to protect it from the elements.
– The rims, front and rear bumpers, and roof rack have been professionally powder coated.
– Engine tuned up with new spark plugs and wires.
– All fluids replaced
– All hoses and belts replaced.
– New tires installed, mounted and balanced.
– A/C system converted to R134A refrigerant.
– Radiator and engine block flushed and replenished with new anti-freeze.
– The vehicle comes with an aftermarket back-up camera.
This 1989 FJ62 was owned by the same family since the late 90s. It sports an Old Man Emu lift, oversized tires on 16″ rims, an ARB front bumper, ARB rock sliders, and a roof rack with a spare tire carrier mount. Includes a Pioneer AM/FM/CD radio with matching 6-disc changer, original owners manual, bottle jack and tool kit. Also includes a fair amount of service records. Engine was completely replaced in the early 1990s.
Dark gray exterior, blue interior
285/75/r16 BFG A/T tires (33.5″ tires)

Located in Monument, Colorado
Runs and shifts smooth
BFG tires have a year or so left tread-wise
Trail-ready FJ with about $3k worth of upgrades in the tires, fog lights, suspension, ARB front bumper, rock slider and roof rack alone.
AM/FM/CD with 6-disc changer
Speedo stopped working years ago. Previous owner guessed the mileage to be around 270k.
Runs but sat for a while and needs a tune up, all fluids changed, and will need a new air intake hose (currently taped as a temporary fix; it sucks air in and throws off the system and runs like crap otherwise)
Front seat bottoms are pretty beat in the front under the seat covers. Front seat backs are fine.
Horn and rear wiper not working
Has rust, but limited to the body and priced accordingly.
This 1985 FJ60 was owned by the same family for the last 20 years. It sports vintage 1980s pin stripes that reminds me of the movie Tron. It was used as an extra vehicle on the previous owner’s mountain property in Colorado and thus why it has such low miles. While it does have some rust on the outside, the interior is absolutely incredible and with some body/metal work and a paint job this would be one fantastic daily driver. Currently located in Monument, Colorado.

Metallic blue exterior, blue interior
Warn winch added to original front bumper
Newer lift leaf springs, radiator, alternator, oil just changed
Includes full original tool kit, jack, jack rods, and owner’s manual
168k miles (super low for an 85′)
Transmission shifts smoothly, 4WD works great, and drives smooth down the road
Interior is incredibly clean, headliner is perfect, seats immaculate.
All original less the side mirrors, radio, rims and addition of the Warn winch
A/C Blows Cold
Original air intake hose is crack free (rare)
Center console is perfect (rare)
Washer bottles for front lights and windshield wipers are crack-free (rare)
Rocker panels in very good condition
Dent in the lower valence (used one around $100; roughly 8 bolts to remove and replace)
Windshield cracked (estimated $200 to replace)
Front quarter panel dented and has some rust (estimated $150 to $200 for a good used one)
Front axle seals need replaced (almost all of them do)
Radio sort of works; display won’t show you anything but a blank screen but tape deck works (although the tape won’t eject)
To be a reliable daily driver it will only need new tires and a tune up (plugs, wires, cap rotor, and probably a carb cleaning or possible rebuild)
Needs thermostat and thermostat sending unit (about $50 for the parts, takes about an hour to replace)
Voltage is reading low. Need to diagnose. Starts and runs fine and the battery never dies so it might be the gauge. I have a good used one that will go with the truck.
