Is the replacement of the Charcoal Canister aka Standard Ignition Vapor Canister aka Evaporative Emission Control System in order for your 1974 – 1984 40-Series Toyota Land Cruiser? (RL1002 for 1969 – 1973)
Tired of your garage smelling like fuel? While you may be willing to park your rig outside, you should not be letting your fuel tank over pressurize due to a charcoal canister that has gone bad. But too, the charcoal canister connects directly to the engine and “driven” with vacuum, thus can be affecting your engine’s air-fuel mixture.
But maybe you have been putting off replacing the charcoal canister due to the “forever – out – of – stock” factory Toyota Charcoal Canister? There is a readily available solution from… shall we dare say… Chevrolet? Yes, the Chevy sized charcoal canister is readily available, BUT their canister is larger in diameter than the factory Toyota canister. We made a solution for that. Because of these two scenario’s, we’ve made the Charcoal Canister Heat Bracket specifically for this purpose and specifically to fit both the 1974 – 1977 or 1978 – 1984 40-Series Toyota Land Cruiser.
Here is the Charcoal Canister Mount on 1974 – 1977 heater box (above).
The same Charcoal Canister Mount also on a 1978 – 1984 heater box (above). Original prototype shown.
For the 1974 – 1977 heater box, note there (5) bolts on the lower lip that separates the two halves of the heater housing.
The two bolts in the center is where the mount will attache to. It’s basically the same process for the 1978 – 1984 heater box.
We provide additional bolts for a consistent look and are metric!
Note the two longer bolts, these will be used for the mount and the others are for a consistent look.
The larger diameter bolt is located on the back left.
