Hose, Air Cleaner Cover 1975 – 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser RL1392 (EN4-4)
This is the Toyota Hose, Ventilation, No. 3, aka the hose that goes from the Air Cleaner Cover to the Valve Cover for positive crake case ventilation. Yes, this hose is apart of the secondary smog equipment, but this is for the good of your engine if you are truly using your Land Cruiser as intended – in the dirt.
Yes, you could just cap-off the hose outlet from the air filter and put one of those silly little air filters on top of the valve cover inlet, but have you see them in use? Oil is typically dripping out from them and dust has collected to the outside of the tiny filter. With this hose, the mess is eliminated and system is breathing as intended with the “clog-free” amount of air volume needed to allow the crank case to breath. Albeit, your air filter does need to be free flowing – not clogged and as a result choking the system.
