The 80-Series Toyota Factory Service Manual states that the fuel tank cap gasket is a (R) replacement item every 60,000 miles or every 72 months (6 years), whichever comes first. These 80-Series Land Cruisers, 3FE FJ80s & 1FZ-FE FZJ80s, are now 33 to 27 years old! Is it beyond time, or are you following the recommended Toyota factory service intervals? When was the last time the gas cap gasket was replaced? You can choose either the gasket only (if you have an OE cap) or a whole new factory Toyota fuel tank cap if yours is not the TEQ Toyota model. We know there are some Toyota purists out there!
The stock Toyota gas cap comes with a gasket – or you can order just the replacement gasket if your fuel cap is the genuine Toyota cap.

The oil filler cap must be leak-free for the PCV valve to perform its task correctly. You do not have to replace the whole cap, just the gasket. Luckily, for now, Toyota still makes the oil cap replacement gasket for our 3FE engines for the FJ62 and FJ80 preservation societies!
