Charcoal Canister Kit, FJ40 – RL1001 / RL1002

Tired of your garage smelling like fuel? While you may be willing to park your rig outside, you should not be letting your fuel tank over-pressurize due to a charcoal canister that has gone bad, or the lack thereof. The charcoal canister is not apart of the smog emissions system! However, the charcoal canister connects directly to the engine and is “driven” by a vacuum, thus affecting your engine’s air-fuel mixture.

• RL1001 Charcoal Canister Heater Mount Kit, 1974 – 1984 FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser (Left)
• RL1002 Charcoal Canister Heater Mount Kit, 1969 – 1973 FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser (Right)
Choose between these two in the dropdown menu.
Maybe you have been putting off replacing the charcoal canister due to the “forever-out-of-stock” factory Toyota Charcoal Canister? There is a readily available solution from… shall we dare say… Chevrolet? Yes, the Chevy-sized charcoal canister is readily available, but the canister is larger in diameter than the factory Toyota canister. This Charcoal Canister Kit system will work for both carbureted engine and EFI conversions.

We made a solution for that. Because of these two scenarios, we’ve made the Charcoal Canister Heater Bracket specifically for this purpose and specifically to fit both the 1974 – 1977 and 1978 – 1984 FJ40 Toyota Land Cruiser heaters. If you have a “South American” imported 40-Series with no heater, this bracket will not work. (Inquire for that solution).

The RL1001/2 Charcoal Canister Kits are complete kits that include the following:
• Heater Mount Bracket
• Charcoal Canister
• Vac-Valve
• Check Valve
• T-Vac Connector
• 6mm Black Silicone Hose 4-ft
• 4mm Black Silicone Hose 2-pcs @ 2-ft
• Mounting hardware

Tip for future Charcoal Canister Preservation
While at the gas station filling up your Land Cruiser’s fuel tank, the gas station pump has an automatic cut-off mechanism for a reason! It lets you know when the tank is “full.” Yes, you can manually click-click-click more fuel into your tank, but you risk flooding the charcoal canister with fuel. The canister is meant to extract fuel vapors, not “drink” fuel, which does not allow the charcoal canister to extract the vapor or the smell of fuel in your nicely garage-kept FJ40 Land Cruiser.
