Installing Morimoto X Holley LED RetroBright Headlight Modern White 7″ Round LFRB 155 (PAIR) – FJ40 / FJ55 / FJ60 Toyota Land Cruiser
Installing the Morimoto X Holley LED RetroBright 7″ Round Headlights into your FJ40 Land Cruiser might be one of the simplest mods ever!
The RLRusty ’78 FJ40 is converting to LED headlights with the Morimoto X Holley RetroBright 7″ Round Headlights. This is a fairly simple “plug-n-play” procedure as long as no one has monkeyed up your wiring harness! First order of operation is to remove your 40-Series besel and don’t forget the proper orientation of it or the Besel police will surely correct you are the worst opportune time!
Remove the outer headlight ring. This is all that is needed to remove the headlamp from the the FJ40. Pay attention to not drop the headlight out as it could possibly break and create an extra step of “broken glass” clean up.
With the headlight ring removed you can now pull the headlight out and unplug the connector from the back of the lamp.
Here is a side-by-side comparison of the Morimoto X Holley RetroBright 7″ Round Headlight (L) in comparison to the stock incandescent headlamp (R).
Now you are ready to install the new RetroBright 7″ Round Headlight. Start with plugging it in and placing it into the headlight bucket.
Note the tabs on the headlight and the headlight bucket, position appropriately and fasten snugly.
We were super eager to test both the wiring of RLRusty and to see a side-by-side comparison of the factory incandescent light output VS the LED Morimoto X Holley RetroBright 7″ Round Headlight output.
With both LED headlights installed, we liked how well the Morimoto X Holley LED RetroBright 7″ Round Headlights filled in the ground area just in front of the Land Cruiser. But it could be just bouncing off the white garage door. SO lets put it out in the real world.
The above image is the stock headlights, below is the LED RetroBrights.
