SOLD! 1984 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60, 164k miles

SOLD! 1984 Toyota LandCruiser FJ60

This 1984 60 Series FJ is in very good condition. Used at a cabin as a hunting vehicle in the mountains for the past several years, it has lower than average mileage at only 164,840 miles.

Even though it’s been rhino lined on the outside, according to the previous owner the rhino liner was not applied to cover up any rust and the body was rust free before the application was done. Going around the body and inspecting it closely and banging on the metal in the usual problematic areas appears to confirm that the body is indeed in very good condition.

This FJ60 is ready for daily use!

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Valve cover gasket and valves adjusted recently
  • New WARN hubs
  • Lower miles at 164k
  • Mostly original
  • 1-2″ lift with 31″ M/T tires with lots of tread life
  • High lift jack mounted to front bumper
  • Rear rifle rack
  • Old school chrome roof rack
  • Mechanically strong; starts up every time
  • Body has very little rust; only spot seems to be on the inside of the tailgate
  • The head looks like it has been removed and bead blasted; so assuming the head gasket was done not too long ago as it’s nice and shiny and from the valve on down, free of any oil leakage

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • A couple leaks in the usual places; nothing major and nothing most FJs don’t have
  • Idling a little high; could use an adjustment
  • Clutch pedal needs adjustment

SOLD! 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60, All Original

FOR SALE: 1987 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60

This completely stock 60 series Land Cruiser has spent it’s life in Texas in the Houston and San Antonio areas. It runs great and is being used as a daily driver.

  • 216,000 original miles (has had factory tires and suspension its entire life, so the speedo is accurate)
  • VIN: JT3FJ60G8H1136023
  • Clean Colorado Title
  • Located in Monument, Colorado (just north of Colorado Springs)
  • View a test drive video here

PHOTO SLIDESHOW:

[metaslider id=12298 percentwidth=100]

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Two toned silver color – not sure if this is a factory two tone, but the paint job is so good on the darker tone, that it’s really hard to tell
  • Original paint
  • Body is very clean and straight
  • Interior is all original and unlike most of the FJ60s out there, it has no tears in any of the seats including the problematic left side of the driver’s seat
  • Newer Kenwood radio with AM/FM/USB/Line In/Pandora; newer speakers in front
  • New front windshield
  • New plugs and wires, carb rebuilt, new water pump, new radiator, new air and fuel filters, new shocks and bushings, rebuilt smog pump, and new shocks
  • A/C blows cold
  • New window tinting (which is tight and looks great)
  • Little things like the fact that the center hubs in the back that say “Toyota” are in Mint condition with no fading of the paint
  • Power steering in excellent working order (most FJ60s need the steering pump rebuilt)
  • Runs 70 miles per hour down the interstate.

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • The only rust spots are near the lower part of the passenger door on the fender and a couple other small spots that are superficial. Makes for a great candidate for a full restoration or to drive as-is.
  • Rear bumper has lost some of the chrome on the top part, but is still very straight. New Toyota bumpers are still available through Toyota and throughout eBay.
  • Has a small crack on the top of the dash smaller than a dime and a few pin holes near a couple of the vents; all things considered the dash is an 8/10 as most of the factory dashes have giant splits in them. You can always purchase a dash cover, as well.
  • Driver seat is dirty; a professional upholstery cleaning should resolve this
  • Rear speakers are now hooked up properly. Not sure if they’re blown or simply just not hooked up right.
  • Door panels are a 6/10. They have some fading and cracking of the vinyl material. You can still find good used ones for around $100 a piece and they’re easy to install.
  • Original leaf springs are flat (as are most FJ60s). Replacement leaf springs or lift kits readily available.
  • Needs an alignment; the steering wheel is a bit off center when you drive it straight down the road
  • Choke light burned out ($5 light bulb)
  • One of the previous owners must have installed something on the dash, because there are four holes left of the glove box. A talented auto detailer could repair this and touch it up.

INQUIRE:

PHOTO SLIDESHOW:

[metaslider id=12299]

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • 205,000 miles on original motor, which is in good running order
  • 35 x 12.5 x r15 tires with about 25% treadlife
  • Original dash is not cracked and in very good shape
  • On board air compressor (hooked up to air conditioning system, press the A/C button in the cab to operate)
  • Original upholstery
  • New tail pipe
  • Body is in pretty good condition, all things considered. It does have the rhino liner around the bottom, but underneath seems to be pretty solid with the exception of a couple spots.
  • Larger tires were added about 10 months ago. Prior to that the stock tires were on it for the majority of its life.

KNOWN ISSUES:

  • Transmission is missing 1st gear. Drove it from Denver to Colorado Springs (60 miles) by shifting to “1”, which starts it in second gear, then shifting to “D” at about 25mph. The A/T Oil Temp light came on towards the end of the trip. It will need a used transmission (one available from Red Line) or you can do a 5 speed transmission swap.
  • Interior is a 5/10 with the exception of the dash, which is a 9/10. It would be a 10/10 if it weren’t for the small little piece by the speaker box. Front carpet is original and in good shape. Mid carpet section has been replaced and looks pretty good. Rear cargo carpet is pretty soiled. Seats are dirty and really not too bad, less the driver’s bottom seat. Headliner is in good shape. The interior could be made to be pretty nice again with a bit of work and some good used parts.
  • Rear cargo windows are not glass. Someone replaced them with plexiglass. Didn’t realize this until I went to wash the car and dry the car off.
  • Missing front bumper (looks like a tow bar was hooked up at one point)
  • Rear bumper and drivers rear panel dented
  • Brakes a bit soft…but it could just be because of those bigger tires
  • Some rust here and there, but nothing major
  • One of the shocks is broken off
  • It has a spring over lift, but it’s nothing great and it really needs to be redone properly or converted back to the original suspension set up
